Born in Tunisia, Max Azria is now considered a top American designer after moving to the United States in the 1980s to pursue his passion for designing women's clothing.

It didn't take Azria long to put out his first-ever collection in 1989 under the label BCBG, which stands for the French term "bon chic, bon genre" or "good style, good attitude." The European sophistication of Azria's clothes quickly caught the attention of many fashionistas who quickly scooped up his ready-to-wear line and added it to their closets. More lines would soon follow, including the purchase of famed label Herve Leger in Europe.

She was instrumental in helping the California-based designer create his first fashion show and boutique in New York City, which helped put him on the map. In 1998, Azria' relentless pursuit of great fashion earned him a coveted spot on the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), a seat he still holds today.

His wife Lubov oversees all aspects of the company along with Max, including the color schemes and design influences for each season. Together, they built an empire that today includes BCBG Max Azria, BCBGirls, To the Max, BGBG Attitude, and Max Rave.
